Anti-terror police are probing the dying of a person and the assault of one other in Hartlepool.
A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of homicide and tried homicide following the incident within the Tees Road space of the city within the early hours of Sunday.
Cleveland Police mentioned they’re working with Counter Terrorism Policing North East to research the incident.
A big bloodied kitchen knife was discovered on the pavement as police cordoned off a big space.
A drive spokesman mentioned that there was not believed to be any ongoing risk to the general public.
He mentioned: “Cleveland Police are investigating the dying of a person and the assault of one other within the early hours of Sunday 15 October 2023 within the Tees Road space of Hartlepool.
“A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of homicide and tried homicide and stays in custody.
“Resulting from preliminary inquiries into the circumstances of the incident, Cleveland Police are working with Counter Terrorism Policing North East on the investigation. Counter Terrorism Policing has deployed its specialist capabilities to assist set up what occurred.
“It’s not believed that there’s any excellent risk to the general public and the local people related to this incident.
“A cordon stays in place and a search is ongoing at a property within the space.
“The person who was assaulted was taken to hospital and stays there with what are believed to be non-life threatening accidents.”
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson mentioned: “We had been known as to an incident on Raby Road, Hartlepool this morning (15 October) at 5:43am. We dispatched three ambulance crews and one physician.”
